Acrylic and Ink on drum (Elk rawhide, wood frame), 2015
This design is influenced by traditional Tahltan curvilinear patterns for applique clothing and bone scrapers used for tanning animal hides. In my research, I found the abstract designs look like lichen, plant bulbs and antlers. Tahltan patterns, colours and shapes stand in for cycles, seasons and how the land continues to provide for life.
